Clay Pigeon Shooting

Something for fun, a challenge, or to practice for the shooting season. Here at Ashcombe Adventure Centre we offer you the chance to shoot with or without tuition, in groups or by yourself, for a few hours or the whole weekend.

Situated in the grounds of the beautiful Ashcombe Estate, the clay site has been purpose built with the clay and game shooter in mind. All of the clays are thrown as realistically as possible - so targets like driven pheasant, springing teal and dropping duck fly just as you would expect the real bird to do. In addition, our fully automatic Parker traps provide the shooter with consistent, quality targets for that ultimate sporting challenge.

Our Senior Instructor has been involved in the sport for more than twenty years, and can provide tuition for everyone, from the complete beginner to the experienced clay shot and game shooter.

Facilities include a Skeet range, Down the Line, Compact and various Sporting layouts where targets are thrown from a variety of towers and stands (and even from trees!). Our High Tower can throw driven birds up to 150ft!

Shooting opening hours are as follows:

Monday   10.00 – 5.00pm
Tuesday   10.00 – 5.00pm
Wednesday   10.00 – 5.00pm
Thursday   10.00 – 5.00pm (Late September – March)
    10.00 – Dusk (April – Early September)
Friday   10.00 – 5.00pm
Saturday   10.00 – 5.00pm
Sunday   10.00 – 1.00pm

Shooting lessons are available Monday - Saturday during opening hours, by appointment.

12 and 20 gauge Cartridges are available for purchase on production of a valid Shotgun Certificate. Ear Defenders are available for hire from the Office.

Novice Clay Pigeon Shooting (Taster Session)

Including full tuition and equipment hire, this is the perfect option if you are looking to take up clay pigeon shooting as a hobby but have no experience as yet. Available with either 25 or 50 clays and cartridges included per person, and always a favourite of Stag, Hen and corporate guests, the novice session is an informative and intrinsically rewarding activity for both groups and individuals.

Advanced Clay Pigeon Tuition

A One-on-One session with a Senior Instructor, allowing you to focus on, and improve, the discipline of your choice.

Advice also available on choice of gun, gun fit, safety procedures & shooting etiquette, and shooting techniques.
